Rehabilitation Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover my therapy?
Each insurance plan is different. Yet, most insurance
plans will cover Physical or Occupational Therapy. Insurance
companies may limit the total number of visits you may
have in a calendar year. Any visits you have used this
calendar year here or at another facility for a different
injury will decrease the number of visits that your
insurance will cover now. We will be in contact with
your insurance company to verify your benefits for therapy.
How long does it take?
The initial therapy evaluation takes approximately one
hour. After this initial visit, the length of your therapy
visits may vary. However, the average therapy appointment
lasts approximately forty-five minutes. During this
time, a member of the Therapy Team may work with you
directly or may have you utilize appropriate exercise
equipment.
How long will I be required to come to therapy?
There are many different reasons why people have physical
or occupational therapy. As such, people will be required
to undergo therapy for different lengths of time. Your
physician will determine your progress through communication
with the Therapy Team and together they will decide
when you have been successfully rehabilitated.
What should I wear?
We suggest that you wear comfortable clothing for all
therapy visits. This included sweat pants, shorts, or
other nonbinding clothing. If your injury or surgery
was to your knee, you must come prepared to put on shorts
for the initial evaluation and follow up therapy visits.
Am I assigned to one therapist or will I see
anyone?
You will be assigned a Therapist Team. You will work
with the Therapist and the Therapist Assistant you have
been assigned in most cases. In some cases, your appointment
may be scheduled with a different team but be assured
that information regarding your therapy and injury has
been shared with the substitute team.
When do I make more appointments?
After your initial evaluation you will schedule additional
appointments with your Therapy Team. A member of the
Clerical Support Team will assist you with this. Our
Neighborhood Health Centers are open six days a week
to serve you. However, not all therapists are available
for Saturday appointments.
When do I pay my co-payments?
Some insurance plans require that the insured patient
pays for a portion of the therapy. When your insurance
requires a co-payment you must pay your co-payment at
the time of your visit. We do accept cash, check, and
most credit cards.
What will the therapist do?
At the initial therapy evaluation, the physician will
have been in contact with your therapist. Your therapist
will review your injury and the goals of the therapy
with you. The therapist will determine your physical
ability and begin your progress to recovery.
Can I go to different Neighborhood Health Centers
for therapy based on my own schedule?
No. Your therapy should all be provided at one of our
Neighborhood Health Centers. However, your therapy does
not have to be in the location where you see your physician.
Therefore, you can see your physician in Bethlehem but
do your therapy in any of our other locations.
What if I don’t like my therapist?
In some instances you may have a preference for a different
physical therapy team. We have both male and female
therapists. If after your initial visit you believe
you would be more comfortable with a different team,
you can be assigned a different team. You can expect
the best customer service possible from all our Therapy
Teams.
