Rheumatology, Arthritis and Osteoporosis
Over 10 million people currently suffer from osteoporosis and up to 70% of adults suffer from arthritis at some point in their lives. If you have been recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or any other auto-immune disease, you may feel concerned or overwhelmed.
But you are not alone. With the proper treatment and disease management, you can still lead a healthy and productive life. With the help of one of our rheumatologists, a positive attitude and a healthy lifestyle: you can not only cope with your disease, but live well despite your diagnosis.
What are Auto-immune and Rheumatic diseases?
Rheumatic diseases and disorders involve your musculoskeletal system. They are problems involving your joints, soft tissues, and bones. These problems often include many types of auto-immune diseases. These conditions can cause inflammation, redness, swelling and pain to your joints and surrounding soft tissues, making it difficult to perform your daily activities.
Most conditions are chronic and unlikely to go away. While there may not be a cure for your disease, effective management is the best way to lead a productive, satisfying life.

What treatments are available?
We have many tests, including DEXA bone density scans, available to evaluate your conditions so you receive the correct diagnosis and more importantly begin the right treatment. Though treatment of Rheumatic disease is not a one size fits all approach, clinical treatments are improving consistently.
Our Rheumatologists work with you to find the combination of testing, medication and therapy that is right for you. We also have private Infusion therapy suites available on our Allentown Campus and our Bethlehem Campus on Highland Ave.
It’s important to remember your attitude and lifestyle also play an integral role in how well you live with your rheumatic disease. Paying attention to your body and maintaining a healthy lifestyle complement the treatments you receive with your Rheumatologist.
